Maiden City Sub-Aqua Club 2019
Training BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS The Maiden City Sub-Aqua Club recruits members annually and trains them through the SAA/CMAS system, which consists of lectures and pool sessions. From this they are brought for open water training leading them to certification as qualified Divers (i.e. Club Divers).  Enrolment of new members takes place in October of each year.

SAA Training Policy

In the SAA we believe in progressive training; small progressive meaningful steps that lead to the required qualification. This has been proven to be benificial to the trainee and candidate, allowing time for the consolidation of knowledge and skills.

For those of you who have dived before and have a qualification from another diving association please check out the Crossover Chart for a list of equivalent Diving Qualifications.

SAA Diver Qualifications

Elementary Diver

An Elementary Diver is fully pool trained but inexperienced in open water. When diving in open water an Elementary Diver MUST be accompanied by a minimum of Dive Leader of above.

Open Water Diver

An Open Water Diver has additional practical experience but MUST be accompanied by a minimum of a Dive Leader or above.

Club Diver

A Club Diver is a qualified open water diver and may dive with others certified as Club Divers or above. A Club Diver is not considered to have sufficient experience to take Elementary or Open Water Divers on Open Water Dives.

Dive Leader

A dive leader is someone who has had additional experience in both practical and theory and has proven their ability to organise and lead club expeditions.

Dive Supervisor

A Dive Supervisor is an experienced and responsible diver, with a proven ability to organise and lead club expeditions.
